Kagome
Kagome is Kikyou's reincarnated soul. Even though she is her reincarnation they are stil seperate people with different personalities but both fell in love with the same person. She was born with the Shikon no Tama inside her.
Feudal Era
Kagome was your average teen until the day of her fifteenth birthday. Kagome lives with her mother, younger brother Souta and grandfather at the old shrine. She went to get her cat Buyo when a centipede youkai grabbed her and took her in the well. The same centepide youkai Kikyou threw into the well. Kagome panics and uses a strange power that she didn't know she had.
Kagome climbs out the well but not in her time. She is instead 500 years into the past. Thinking that she's in her own time she runs to the Goshinboku and finds a boy (InuYasha) pinned to it. The villagers shortly attack thinking that she is a youkai. The villagers take her back to their village and let Kaede look over her and find out that she's just human. Her initial thoughts of Kaede is that she's just another "Weirdo" but later on she respects her.
InuYasha
Later that day the centipede youkai attacks the village and follows Kagome. InuYasha reawakens when Kagome starts screaming for help. Because of the centipede youkai the Shikon no Tama ends up coming out of Kagome and she never knew it was in her. Kagome ends up releasing InuYasha from the Goshinboku when she considers him her last choice. InuYasha easily defeats the centipede youkai then goes after Kagome for the Shikon no Tama. Kaede then places the Kotodama beads on him giving Kagome control over him when she says "Osuwari."
Shikon no Tama
Because Kagome is the reincarnation of Kikyou she is given the duty of purifying the Shikon no Tama. The Shikon no Tama is eventually stolen by a crow youkai and shattered to pieces by Kagome. Because of that InuYasha and Kagome are forced to work together to recover the pieces.
Kikyou
Before Kikyou was ressurected, Kikyou's entire soul was in Kagome. Kagome even once silently asked for Kikyou to lend her power. It didn't work, her arrow still missed terribly. Kagome also helped convince InuYasha to go recover Kikyou's ashes because she felt sorry for the woman. Kagome still has doubts on whether she really is Kikyou's reincarnation.
In the beginning her relationship with Kikyou started off bad. They both want the same guy. Kikyou tries to take InuYasha to Hell in front of Kagome but Kagome prevents it. Even when Kagome attempts to rescue her from Naraku, Kikyou still dislikes the girl. It isn't until they are trapped in a cave together that they have some sort of mutual respect for one another. As for Kikyou's final death Kagome tries to help but fails. Kagome was very upset at the fact that she couldn't save Kikyou. It shows how much she cares for InuYasha. Because she knows Kikyou's death would affect him a lot, Kagome would do anything to save Kikyou.
Spiritual Powers
Kagome was born with Kikyou's spiritual powers. She wasn't good at archery at first because she never used a bow and arrow before. She is improving at archery and her spiritual powers are increasing. She almost killed Naraku and stopped the transformation of the Tetsusaiga when it was in Sesshoumaru's possesion.
Relationship with InuYasha
For awhile Kagome and InuYasha's relationship is strained because he doesn't trust her because of her resemblance to Kikyou. Kagome does eventually earn his trust and more. She realizes that InuYasha still cares for Kikyou. She sometimes gets a bit jealous over it but will later see that it's hard for him to forget Kikyou when they were once in love.The show seems to be pointing towards them two as a couple as Kikyou is dead and Kagome does love him for who he is. Kikyou is gone for good and I think Kagome will be the one to help InuYasha grieve and move on.
